Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe (city bus company) has presented first buses of Solaris brand from the so called “contract of the century”. Among them was the thousandth bus for Warsaw produced by the factory in Bolechów.
The presented vehicles are one of the first which have been delivered to Warsaw within the framework of the record order for 168 modern, low-floor air-conditioned buses for MZA Warsaw. The contract for their delivery was signed in June this year. Within the contract 20 of 10-meter-long vehicles of Solbus brand, 36 buses of Solaris Urbino 12 brand as well as 112 articulated Solaris Urbiono 18 buses will be delivered to the capital city.
Among the 112 of 18-meter-long buses which were bought there are 4 vehicles with a hybrid drive. The combination of electric and traditional engines powered by diesel will enable lowering the fuel consumption by over 20%. It will decrease fumes emission to the atmosphere. Additionally, the vehicles are equipped with the energy recovery system under braking, which is later used for their drive.
All new buses are equipped with modern systems improving the comfort and safety of passengers: air-conditioning, a set of LCD monitors, inner video surveillance system, buttons with inscriptions in the Braille alphabet, engine chamber fire suppression system.
