Due to international cooperation of ZTM, next young workers of Warsaw transport organizer will soon be able to gain knowledge and experience by watching public transport in European metropolises. Apprenticeship in Vienna and Turin will be possible owing to the project “New culture of mobility in Warsaw” which is a part of the Leonardo da Vinci program. ZTM will apply for the organization of the project. Closer co-operation with foreign partners is supported by the membership of ZTM director – Leszek Ruta in the management board of European Metropolitan Transport Authorities (EMTA).
ZTM workers will be “employed” for the period of apprenticeship by Wiener Linien and Agenzia Mobilita Metropolitana Torino – organizers of transport in Vienna and Turin appropriately. Six apprentices will go to each of the cities. The main aim of the departures will be gathering knowledge and skills connected with organization and functioning of public transport systems. These include effective transport and image management, introducing innovative technologies and educating passengers. Because in two years time Warsaw will become one of the arenas of European Football Championship, the use of the partners experience in organizing mass events will be unusually precious. Two years ago football matches of EURO 2008 were played in Vienna and in 2006 Turin organized Olympic Games.
On Monday (11th October) director of ZTM – Leszek Ruta and Walter Andrle – director of Wiener Linien signed a letter of intent about co-operation. Similar document will soon be signed with Turin counterpart of ZTM.
Apprenticeships in Vienna and Turin is a next project – after the last year’s apprenticeships of ZTM workers in Berlin transport company BVG – planned for realization as a part of EU Leonardo da Vinci program.
