An owner of a personalized WKM (Warsaw City Card) does not have to leave the house to buy ZTM ticket. It is enough to sign up and create an account on ztm.waw.pl/ewkm and pay for a selected personal contract on the Internet by using a credit card or a fast wire transfer. The network of coding tickets purchased online will expand systematically. Extension of a tariff offer available online is being planned.
The system of Internet-based ticket vending will be systematically developed. All operators who fulfill ZTM criteria may join in the system. Negotiations with other companies interested in participation in the venture are in progress. Increasing functionality of the Warsaw City Card not only as a ticket carrier but also as an electronic purse will be beneficial to the expansion of the system.
The number of the coding points will be systematically increased. In a pilot stage, coding machines have been installed in the Underground and Passenger Service Centers. In the future they will also be installed in places such as airports, shopping centers, universities, students’ dorms, hospitals – in places where they will be available for the asking for big groups of passengers. The usage of ticket machines, parking meters and validating machines in public transport vehicles for coding Internet tickets (apart from standard machines) is taken into consideration.
e-WKM service is a solution addressed to people who prefer shopping in a homely atmosphere. At present about 30% of Warsaw City Cards is topped up in ticket machines. The extension of the functionality of these machines by the option of coding contracts paid for in the on-line shop will allow for a comfortable conclusion of a deal at home without the necessity of carrying cash or credit card when a passenger goes to the ticket machine.
Institutions which prefer non-cash benefits for their employees should become interested in e-WKM offer. Getting an invoice by post is an advantage. The document will be issued and sent free of charge within 14 days by Mint of Poland.
Currently there are available long-term personal City Cards (30- or 90-day ones) coded on a personalized Warsaw City Card (WKM), 30 days for one line City Cards and Senior tickets. In the pilot stage there is an on-line sale of long-term bearer City Cards which can still be coded on non-personalized WKM after 30th June. Ultimately, the on-line shop is going to offer short-term City Cards (1-, 3-, 7- and 14–day ones).
An important aspect taken into account while introducing e-WKM service is providing security. ZTM has fulfilled the requirements of the Inspector General of Personal Data Protection (GIODO) concerning gathering and processing passengers’ personal data.
Only the number of a personalized WKM card is accessible to the Internet sale operator. The sale is conducted with keeping security regulations, in accordance with THAWTE security protocol and SSL protocol.
Internet sale of personal long-term City Cards is an extension of distribution channels. It is another way of cash-free payment for travelling by the public transport. So far, it has been possible only by mobile phone or by using a credit for payment in ticket machines.
