Let’s search together

Public Transport Authority supports ITAKA Center in looking for missing people, among whom there are many children. 3500 persons below the age of 18 go missing each year in Poland. Traveling public transport let’s not be indifferent to those who need help.

The International Missing Children’s Day is celebrated on May 25, but investigations carried out by Itaka, police and partners (including ZTM) last for a whole year (for 11 years now!). Owing to the effort and good will of people, most missing juveniles are found.

ZTM ticket controllers, among others, are engaged in the search. Working every day in public transport vehicles, they pay attention to the “lost” passengers – children traveling without a guardians, or older people who, due to the memory disorder, could leave their home and do not know the way back. The controllers also receive from Itaka photos of missing persons, especially those who where last time seen in a bus or a tram, or who usually went by public transport.

Everyone can help in the search. It is important to be sensitive. It is crucial – especially in the case of missing children, who are usually defenseless. When you see a lone, stray child it is advisable to inform police or similar civil servant or call municipal police toll free number 116 000 where Itaka employees gather information about missing persons 24 hours a day.
