ZTM constantly engages in promoting action of regular blood donation. The actions take place regularly, and we encourage every Warsaw citizen to take part in them.
There will be International Red Cross Days in May. ZTM every year celebrates those days and organizes blood donation action among its employees. In the action participate among others, representatives of Warsaw transport companies, members of Klub Miłośników Komunikacji Miejskiej (club of public transport enthusiasts), enthusiasts for Honorary Blood Donors PCK (Polish Red Cross), police and journalists.
The regular blood donation actions have been promoted by ZTM for two years. In September 2008, blood donors from ZTM and Warsaw transport companies met in the Blood Donation Center at ul. Saska. The Head and the employees of ZTM, representatives of the Warsaw Tramway, MZA and Warsaw underground gave blood on that occasion.
The action took place twice last year – in May in front of ZTM registered office at ul. Dzielna, and over 17 liters of blood was received in RCKiK bus (regional center of blood donation and blood therapy), while in September, a mobile emergency room appeared at Młociny transport hub during Public Transport Days.
The most experienced and most socially involved employee in ZTM is Jacek Batura, who works in the Department of Transport Service Control. He became a blood donor over 30 years ago and gave over 72 liters of blood. Mr. Jacek is also a Chairman of the Blood Donors Club located at MZA bus depot at ul. Ostrobramska.
Public Transport Authority is also active in organizing November celebration of Blood Donation Days. Last years, on the basis of the cooperation with HDK-PCK Club, Klub Miłośników Komunikacji Miejskiej and the Warsaw Tramway actions of blood donation and humanitarian activities for the poor were promoted in a special tram.
The ZTM employees’ effort of promoting blood donation is always recognized. During yearly celebrations summarizing activities of HDK-PCK Club, in December 2009, 13 ZTM blood donors of various occupations (administration, ticket controllers) were awarded prizes, cups, and diplomas.
