We will watch transport in Turin – ZTM Warszawa

We will watch transport in Turin

“New culture of mobility in Warsaw” is a part of Leonardo da Vinci program and a project which ZTM will apply to implement. Agenzia Mobilita Metropolitana  Torino (AMMT)  – transport organizer in Turin and Wiener Linien will be our partners in the project. Last week (12th November) a letter of intent about co-operation was signed between ZTM and our counterpart in Turin. In October a similar agreement was signed between ZTM and Wiener Linien.

A competition has just been announced in which one can submit projects applying for co-financing from European funds. Applications can be submitted until 4th February 2011. The settlement of the competition is expected in the middle of the next year. It is worth reminding that the previous ZTM project submitted to Leonardo da Vinci program was regarded as a model one. Eight ZTM workers had their apprenticeships in Berlin transport company BVG in March 2009.

The main aim of the departures to Turin and Vienna will be gaining knowledge and skills connected with organization and functioning of public transport systems. These include effective transport and image management, introducing innovative technologies and educating passengers. Because in two years time Warsaw will become one of the arenas of European Football Championship, the use of the partners experience in organizing mass events will be unusually precious. In 2006 Turin organized Olympic Games and two years ago football matches of EURO 2008 were played in Vienna.

Closer co-operation with foreign partners is supported by the membership of ZTM

in European Metropolitan Transport Authorities (EMTA).
