Tickets – ZTM Warszawa

Tickets

Purchase of a public transport ticket becomes easier. At present, you can buy a ticket in a vehicle from a ticket machine. Twelve such ticket machines have been already available in MZA buses, four in SKM trains, and 50 ticket machines will be installed in Mobilis company buses in the middle of May.

The ticket machines are user-friendly; they have touch screens. All cardboard tickets can be bought from them: single fare, time-limit (20-, 40-, 60- and 90-minute), short-term (1-,3-, and 7-day). The machines accept coins and give change. Foreigners can also use the machines easily as the information on the screen can be displayed in German and in English.

In future the ticket machines will be a standard element of the vehicles of public transport. One of the conditions the companies have to meet to win ZTM tender for public transport service is the requirement for the vehicles to be equipped with ticket machines. Such machines, for example, will be installed in 50 new articulated buses after the ongoing tender procedure is won by a contractor. The machines will also be installed in 13 new SKM trains bought to provide service for Warsaw Chopin Airport at Okęcie, as well as in 186 trams ordered by the Warsaw Tramway, which are to be provided soon.

MZA intends to equip with the ticket machines all the vehicles that are ordered. The scheduled purchase for this year is 110 buses, and by 2013, 400 new vehicles will be present at Warsaw streets. At present, there are 12 ticket machines in the MZA buses and another 8 machines will be installed soon. Bus line 175 has the most vehicles with such machines.

Each of the four new SKM trains has two ticket machines, which will be used by the Fast Urban Railway under a leasing contract. The new 19WE trains already operate on the S-2 line between Pruszków and Sulejówek, and two other will be provided by Newag from Nowy Sącz till the mid-June at the latest.

Public Transport Authority constantly expands availability of tickets. At present, the tickets can be purchased at over 1300 sale points. ZTM also regularly opens new stationary ticket machines in the most busy city points among others, at Metro stations, railway stations and stops. Tickets can also be bought using mobiles, and such service is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Long-term tickets will also be available on the Internet soon.
