The Safe Bus (SB) project is implemented under Internal Security Fund – Police (ISFP) program. It started on 1 December 2021 and will run for 24 months, until the end of November 2023. The value of the project is €672,067, of which €21,956.40 is direct funding for activities carried out by the Public Transport Authority.
The main objective of the project is to create an Internet platform integrating solutions for the prevention of terrorist attacks, as well as training materials and procedures, online courses and an e-learning portal. To achieve this, common security concepts and harmonised standards for public space management will be created with reference to European Union countries.
The role of ZTM is to provide substantive support to the project consortium through active participation in activities aimed at the exchange of knowledge, experience and good practice in the prevention of actions of a terrorist nature. The undertaking is also an opportunity to establish contacts with new foreign partners. Participation in the project also allows gaining new knowledge about current solutions to improve security in public transport. The project leader is The International Association of Public Transport (UITP). In addition to UITP and ZTM, public transport operators from Lisbon, Rome and the Netherlands are expected to participate in the project.
